※ユーザー^ⅰ) PKI=Public Key Infrastructure 公開鍵基盤/公開鍵暗号基盤のこと。日本で進めているＰＫＩ事業としては、ＧＰＫＩ，ＪＰＫＩ，ＵＰＫＩなどがある。ＳＳＬを組み込んだウェブサーバーやブラウザー（ＨＴＴＰＳ）やＰＧＰ，Ｓ／ＭＩＭＥなどをつかった暗号化電子メールシステム、ＳＳＬ－ＶＰＮを使ったＶＰＮサービス、ＳＳＬやＴＬＳをつかったＰＯＰ，ＩＭＡＰ、ＳＭＴＰを利用したセキュリティメール送受信システムなどがある。デジタル証明書¹⁾を発行するためには、ＣＡ（証明局）が必要になり、証明書サーバーでは、証明書の有効期限管理や失効管理が行われる。また、このようなデジタル証明書を取り扱うツールとして、Ｗｉｎｄｏｗｓサーバーに装備されている証明書サーバーや、ＯｐｅｎＳＳＬなどによるＣＡサーバー、市販の証明書ツールなどがある。また、このとき、生成されるペアキー（ペア鍵、秘密鍵と公開鍵）を保存する媒体として、ＩＣカードが注目されている。また、ペアキーを使うことによって暗号化やデジタル署名を行うことができる。デジタル証明書,管理と運用仁科辰夫, サイバーキャンパス「鷹山, 講義ノート, (2008).
